Contrary to popular belief, my goal as a Dietitian actually isn't to grow my business by exclusively reducing waistlines. My purpose is to help women to break free from the shackles of dieting. This can result in weight management, yet the focus of our nutrition counseling is not weight loss. Here's why:
Weight-focused programs only address the symptom of weight gain, rather than the root cause of the weight gain. The root cause can be attributed to hundreds of reasons, one being the belief system regarding food.
Our focus is on long term healthy lifestyles & not a quick fix. Restrictive dieting is a slippery slope to feelings of deprivation, craving "trigger foods", & uncontrollable eating behaviors. Food binges are a result of restriction. Restrictive dieting simply does not work in the end.
Rather than focusing on diet plans, we facilitate lifestyle changes that address the body, mind and spirit.
