Happy Birthday, Nutrition Nibbles!
Three years ago I finally passed the national exam to become a Registered Dietitian (champ clap over each shoulder). Fast forward to one year ago today, Nutrition Nibbles Consulting, LLC was officially established as a small business.
Seven short months later the adventure really started. I left my stable job with a plush salary to embark on an escapade I never really knew I was interested in. I took a leap of faith. This leap wasn’t a graceful landing. It was about as graceful as when I fell down the stairs at church (we are still on that).
When God places such a fervent passion in your heart, you don’t worry about how you land when you take the leap. You just go. And you go with a vengeance. You accidentally spray Pledge in your hair but still make it to that presentation on time. You show up to teach a class on a Wednesday but then realize it’s only Tuesday. You attempt to make a cooking video, get too hype & nearly burn the house down.
During this time I was able to create a presentation that organized each step I took from my last day in my clinical position to finally being comfortable as a private practice dietitian. To learn from my journey (plus gain valuable continuing education credits!), visit Dietitian Central for the course titled Emerging Trends in Dietetic Roles: Stepping Outside the Office.
These 5 months “on my own” have changed me. I’ve gotten closer with my dream team (you know who you are), the man upstairs (thank you Jesus!) and most of all-I’ve gotten close with people. People whom need that little reminder that they’re smarter & stronger than they think. People who have tried every diet and have deemed themselves a failure. People who have trusted me to help them with what they need to survive (food) but also see an enemy (food).
My favorite part of this year was building relationships with people! Genuine, sincere, inspirational people!
